"Alasdair Thomson is a professional stone sculptor living and working in Edinburgh, Scotland. He holds a degree in Art History from the University of Edinburgh, and later earned a diploma in stone sculpture from the Scuola Edile in Siena, Italy. He has experience carving a wide range of stones, from the soft sandstone of Rosslyn Chapel, which he helped restore, to commissions in travertine and granite. Alasdair’s material of choice is marble, in which he renders exquisitely intricate forms. He exhibits regularly in Europe and the United States. "

Borja Moronta, Potter.

"I am originally from Asturias, northern Spain, and settled in Edinburgh after graduating as an Architect in 2016 (Madrid Polytechnic University). Throughout university, I had big interest in different disciplines such as photography, ceramics or woodwork, and always felt drawn to that architecture which focuses on the materiality of the buildings.

My pottery practice began at the beginning of 2018, as part of a recovery process from a severe surgery due to nerve damage on his left hand. I joined Edinburgh Ceramics Workshop evening classes and soon became a member. Later setting up my own studio and focusing solely on my ceramic practice in late 2020.

Today, based in his Edinburgh studio, in Newhaven, I make ceramics that are a reflection of the states of mind I experience while working with clay and its physical processes: from the mindfulness of throwing, to the physicality of preparing clay or the natural slow pace behind the steps that clay follows to become a ceramic piece."
